Online Homeschool Classes for Grades 3-12

You have seen the movies, but have you read the novels that inspired them?
We will read 8 classic fantasy novels in this 2 semester class. In addition to the 50 minute live online class there will be 1.5-2 hours of written and reading homework each week. Classes will include discussion, vocabulary development, and an introduction to written literary analysis. Grades are given based on class participation, and successful completion of homework, as well as 1 writing assignment and 1 creative presentation each semester.
Classes:
This class meets on Tuesdays from 1:30 - 2:20 eastern. There will be 26 classes altogether, 13 each semester. Fall Dates are: Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24 Oct. 1, 15, 22, 29 Nov. 5, 12, 19 Dec. 3, 12 There is no class on Oct. 8 (Fall Break) or Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving Break). Spring Dates are: Jan. 14, 21, 28 Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25 Mar. 4, 18, 25 Apr. 1, 8, 15. There is no class on Mar. 11 (Spring Break).

This is a 1 semester online class designed for students in grades 6-8. We will focus on informative and opinion writing starting with good paragraphs and then expanding into 4 paragraph essays. In addition to the 50 minutes of class each week, students will be required to complete homework each week. (Approximately 1.5 - 2 hours) Grades will be given for class participation, completion of homework, essays and a creative project.

This is a 2 semester class that enables students in grades 6-8 to learn new techniques in watercolor painting while also learning about both modern and historical artists. Each week will include a new artist and a new painting project. Instruction will be given for each project, but there will be an opportunity for each student to make artistic choices to customize their art. Some artists studied include: William Turner, Frieda Kahlo, and Andy Warhol.
Grades are not given in this class. All learners will be encouraged to improve their technique from whatever starting ability they have. Most work will be completed in class, but students are expected to upload photos of their finished work to share with the class each week.

This class meets on Mondays from 1:30 - 2:20 eastern. There are 22 classes. Dates are: Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30 Oct. 14, 21, 28 Nov. 4, 11, 18 Dec. 2. There is no class on Oct. 7 (Fall Break) or Nov. 25 (Thanksgiving Break). Spring Dates are: Jan. 13, 20, 27 Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24 Mar. 8, 17, 24, 31. There is no class on Mar. 10 (Spring Break).
